The Justice Alliance Education Fund (JAEF) supports the development of strong broad-based organizations in the Northwest affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) by conducting training for the development of citizen leaders, promoting cross-cultural understanding and cooperation, providing financial assistance and technical support, and conducting research and public education on issues of concern to residents in the region.

JAEF also supports the charitable and educational activities of the affiliated organizations, including the Spokane Alliance and the Sound Alliance in Washington State, the Metropolitan Alliance for Common Good in Oregon, and the Greater Edmonton Alliance in Alberta.  These organizations are built using an institutional membership model that unites a diverse mix of religious institutions, education and business associations, unions and other community based non-profits. It is driven by the belief that these Mediating Institutions are essential to a vibrant democratic society and hold the key to mending and reweaving the social fabric essential for strong families, healthy communities and a just world. A primary purpose of JAEF, therefore, is to assist these affiliates in:

• Strengthening each member institution by helping them: develop meaningfully connections with and among a broad cross-section of their membership; elevate and embrace the best of their values traditions; and engage their members in action around  shared interests and values - fostering Relational, Reflective and Action-Oriented cultures.
  
• Serving as a vehicle for member groups to act in the public arena with sufficient power for the common good.
